What it Takes to Create an Info Product

Recently we were asked if anyone can create an info product, or if you needed to have a certain area of expertise to do so. It's funny how often this question pops up. So we thought we would answer it in a little more depth with this article.

Yes, many great info products are written by experts. They have a certain topic or subject that they are extremely knowledgeable about and love to share this with others. You may see experts in the health, exercise, medical or other fields create products. They are already considered experts and this, of course, helps their sales.

But, this doesn't mean that if you are not an expert that you cannot create an info product. After all, an info product is all about learning something new.

If you enjoy research then you can simply uncover all the material you need to create your info product. This may take more time, but if you do a thorough job, no one will know that you aren't a true expert.

Once your info product  is released and making sales you will be viewed as an expert. You just created your very own product, so why wouldn't you now be an expert?

By this point you should have an idea for an info product. If so start making a list of what you would like to include in your product. This may include things such as:

·         Step by step instructions

·         Worksheets
·         Tutorial videos
·         PDF explaining the process
·         Mindmaps
·         Research reports

If you are stuck on this part. Then think of yourself as a teacher teaching a student. List out all the steps and actions your student would have to take in order to fully understand the process.

As you do this step think about the best way to deliver the information. Would written instructions be best? Or would audio tapes or videos be more helpful?

Keep going over your process until you are happy with it. Then give your instructions to someone who has no knowledge of the subject. See if they can follow along without any issues.
Once they can then your info product is ready to go to the next step. If not, keep on fining tuning it until all parts are easy to understand and doable.

As you can see if you are prepared to systemize the product creation process you can easily create your own info products. Take the time to research the topic in depth, and put together an easy to follow action plan. These are two main components that will help you create a winning info product!
