Do You Write Compelling and Engaging Content for Your Business?

When it comes to creating a good first impression for your business your content really does count! The first things people see about your business could be your website, your logo, a business card or a blog post that you have written.

If your content isn’t clear and concise your potential customer could be lost forever. On the flip side if your content communicates what your business is about you are going to engage these people.
While the words you use are important you also want to consider colors, fonts, and what type of graphics or pictures to use in your content. Writing for the web is definitely different to writing an ebook.

When creating your content put yourself into the shoes of a buyer. Write in a way that answers questions, solves problems and provides advice. This way you are providing quality content that helps any first impression to be a positive one.

The best advice I can give you for writing engaging content is to take the time to research what you want to talk about. Then plan an outline of your article or blog post and begin the process of writing your content.

Remember to make use of bullet points, numbered lists and use headings and sub headings. This has two purposes one to make the article visually pleasing and two it helps draw attention to important sections.

Your final step is to take the time to edit and proof read your content. It is helpful to write your article and then save it and don’t look at it for a few hours. Then when you reopen it your mind is fresh and you will detect any errors more easily.

Remember that your content is presented in a visual manner, on a person’s monitor, so color and photos are an important element. Consider this for a moment are you more likely to read a long page of nothing but text or do you feel drawn to a page that includes different colors, bolded text, bullet points and images? I know what my answer would be!

All of this applies to any business or advertising material you use. One important aspect to keep in mind is to be consistent across all of your advertising streams. If you have a business logo and a professional photo of you use them consistently. Display them on your website as well as on your business cards. This helps you brand your business and allows people to recognize who you are.
