The Art of Changing Your Content

There has been a lot of discussion lately about repurposing or reusing several pieces of content more than once. This could actually be considered an art form. When changing your content you are actually changing the look and the feel of the work. In no way is the new version totally identical to the original version.

Repurposing or changing your content may sound like a difficult process, it is actually a very easy process. Once you learn how to accomplish it, you will be repurposing content on a regular basis, believe me!

To start changing content, think about how you can change the appearance of the piece. If you have an old article in front of you how can you make it different? Is there a new way you could post this content to your website?

Immediately a couple of ideas come to mind. You could turn this content into slides or even use it to make a video. That certainly changes the appearance. Simply adding images makes any article look different.

How about turning a larger item into something more manageable? A report could be easily chopped up and used for blog posts. This could even become a series that runs for a month or more on your website. You could publish sections at regular intervals and by using the scheduling feature inside wordpress you now have content ready to publish for the next month. How’s that for freeing up your time?

If you are building a list you need content for your email messages? Again you could use the content from a report and split it up into 30 or more messages. You could use content from any of your published articles and turn them into autoresponder messages. Hey, you could even set up mini ecourses and give them away for free or charge for them. Once set this is a perfect way to create a hands free income source.

It doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to repurpose content. What it does take is a little thought and creativity. Start today by selecting some content and seeing how many different ways you could repurpose it. You may even surprise yourself when you let your imagination run. Before you know it you will be an expert on repurposing content and you could even teach a course on the art of changing content to others!
