Your Guide to Using Mailchimp as Your Autoresponder

One of the attractions of Mailchimp is that you can start off with a free account. Their Entrepreneur account allows you to send up to 12,000 emails to 2,000 of your subscribers. So does this mean that this is the best choice for new business owners?

The free option is certainly a huge attraction to new business owners starting out, but is it the right one for you? There are two main things to note if you are thinking of using this system.
While the Entrepreneur account is free it does come with limitations attached to it. For example not all of their features are available with this plan. Some of the features that are unavailable include email client testing and delivery by time zone.

The next thing that you want to note is that Mailchimp may not be the best solution for affiliate marketers. So if you want to send out emails that contain affiliate links you may run into issues.
Mailchimp offers three main plans - the free Entrepreneur as we have already mentioned.

Then they have their Growing Business plan which allows you to have up to 50,000 subscribers. Their top plan is the High Volume Sender plan where you can have more than 50,000 subscribers.

A neat feature that Mailchimp offers is a pay as you go type of payment system. This is where you would purchase credits to use. For example 2,000 credits would cost you $60 which works out to 0.03 cents per email.

Another feature that is included is the Subscriber Profiles feature. This allows you to add notes about your subscriber. Usually only the more advanced CRM systems have this type of option included. If this is something that you would use then this could make you lean towards using this service for your email marketing.

Other features include being able to segment your lists, so you can target people by different groups and interests. Mailchimp also includes a good set of analytics for you too.

When it comes to sending your emails you can choose amongst a good choice of templates. This are easy to customize so you can compliment your current branding with simple tweaks.

Mailchimp is a popular autoresponder service which may be perfectly suitable for your current business needs. Just keep in mind that if you do a ton of marketing in your emails they may not be the best solution. You may be better off using a different system as it can be difficult to move your list at a later date.
